The National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS has donated medical and personal protective equipment to the Economic and Financial crime commission, EFCC
Delivering the items at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of the scheme, Prof Mohammed Sambo said the gesture was aimed at supporting and sustaining the efforts of the Federal Government in containing COVID-19 pandemic.
The NHIS Executive Secretary explained that the items would protect frontline workers from possible infection while they provide services to the public.
Professor Sambo commended the strategies and initiatives being deployed by the nation through the Federal Ministry of Health, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to protect lives and livelihood of all Nigerians.
The EFCC Acting Chairman, Mr. Umar Mohammed expressed the agency’s appreciation for the received items which he said would go a long way in ensuring the protection of the agency’s staff in the line of duty.
He promised to ensure that distribution is made to the fourteen zonal formations of EFCC nationwide.
National Coordinator of the Presidential TaskForce on COVID -19, Dr Sani Aliyu expressed concern that the pandemic has inflicted untold hardship on the social, economic and security situations in the country.
He therefore called for continuous fight against the virus urging the public to wear their mask observe hand washing and social distancing.
