Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa has tasked civil servants on transparency and accountability.
He gave the task at the government house, Lafia on Thursday, during the opening of a workshop for Directors in the state civil service organised by the government in collaboration with a private consulting firm.
Declaring the two-day event open, governor Sule expressed concern over the attitude of some commissioners and permanent secretaries who hijack responsibilities of subordinate, saying henceforth, government would not condone ‘such primitive behaviours.’
He said civil service was the fulcrum in the formulation and implementation of government policies and programmes, and urged participants to pay particular attention to training to enhance capacity and productivity.
He expressed believed that the topic delivered by various resources person during the workshop will enrich the participants with the required knowledge on government business.
The convener of the workshop, Professor Muhammed Isa Kida said directors need to be constantly updated on innovative ways to lead organizations.
Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Sidi Muhammad Bage represented by the Emir of Azara, Dr. Jabiru Ibrahim emphasized the importance of training as a prerequisite to productivity in civil services.
