Association of Local Governments Of Nigeria (ALGON) in Nasarawa State has set up a Task Force Committee to check Indiscriminate Parking of Vehicles on Highways in the headquarters of the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
At the inauguration of the committee in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital, Chairman of ALGON in the state, Alhaji Muazu Maifata said the initiative was part of measures to curtail avoidable road crashes and criminal activities by hoodlums considering the rising insecurity in the state.
Mr. Muazu Maifata urged members of the Task Force to ensure the complete dismantling of all illegal motor parks and clear all forms of hawkings on the highways as according to him they constitute a nuisance to the state.
The 9-man Task Force Committee is made up of representatives from the Federal Road Safety Commission, Police, Department of State Services, State Urban Development Board among others.
Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps in the state Mr. Ahmed Mohammed who is the chairman of the Task Force said they would work round the clock towards getting rid of all illegal activities on the highways.
