National President of Jama’atu Izalatul Bidi’a Wa’Ikamatus Sunna of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdullahi Balalau has urged Muslim clerics to support Kaduna state Government in dowsing tension and preach peace in southern Kaduna to end the spate of violence.
He made the call when he met with Governor Nasiru Ahmad El-Rufa’i in Kaduna on Saturday.
Sheikh Balalau said without peace and harmony, no meaniful development would be achieved, stressing that, they were in Kaduna to promote peace.
He commended the federal and state Governments in calming the situation in the area through the deployment of more security agents.
Governor Elrufai had attributed the lingering crisis in southern Kaduna to “reckless” statement from religious leaders.
“So we are very pleased that, after visit of the National President of CAN, the National President of Izala is also here so that they can understand the situation and what role religious leaders can play to make our state safer”, he said.
The governor said “if religious leaders decide firmly that, people would live in peace and preach that consistently, it would lead to peaceful coexistence in Kaduna state.”
