The Prime Minister of Niger, Mr Brigi Refini has met governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara state to discuss ways to end cross border criminality.
He said banditry and terrorism was not peculiar to Nigeria as his country was facing the same from multiple fronts.
The PM commended Governor Matawalle’s security strategies adding that cooperation between them would bring new ideas and understanding on how to collectively end criminality.
Governor Bello Matawalle extended the appeal of President Muhammad Buhari to the prime minister on the need for mutual assistance from the two countries.
He also extended the request of the Inspector-General of Police, Abdullahi Adamu on blocking the transit of weapons into Nigeria.
Governo Matawalle donated five vans to Nigerien soldiers for surveillance at the boarders between the two countries.
