The Federal Executive Council has approved a 1.5 billion Naira contract for the rehabilitation of the Lower Usuma Dam Water Treatment Plant Phase 2 for adequate water supply in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Minister of FCT, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello, who stated this to State House correspondents, said work on the dam would be completed in 12 months.
He explained that the rehabilitation was necessary to prevent the plant, which was built over 30 years ago, from collapse.
The Ministry of Works and Housing also got a 3.9 billion Naira approval to effect the variables in the costs of 5 subsisting contracts awarded since 2011.
Briefing newsmen on the variations, the Minister, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, named the affected contracts as Federal Secretariats in Anambra, Bayelsa, Nasarawa, Osun, and Zamfara States.
He said the Federal Government needed to complete the projects to provide decent office accommodations to ministries, departments, and agencies that lack them.
