Traditional rulers seek inclusion in insecurity management

Emir of Anka in Zamfara State, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad has urged the federal and state governments to get traditional institutions fully involved in the fight against banditry and insurgency.

The Emir made the call at the Nigerian Army Super Camp in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, where he inspected the ongoing ‘Operation Sahel Sanity’ alongside the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji AbdulMumini Kabir Usman.

Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad noted that traditional and community leaders were always abreast of happenings in their communities and are therefore well-positioned to contribute to efforts at providing security.

He observed that banditry and Boko Haram insurgency were triggered by the failure of families and religious institutions to inculcate the right set of moral values in their children and appealed to families, schools and religious institutions to pay particular attention to the moral upbringing of children to make them responsible members of the society.

He commended the Nigerian Army and sister agencies for their efforts in flushing out bandits from states of the North-West region in the ongoing ‘Operation Sahel Sanity’.

The Emir of Katsina was represented at the occasion by the Kauran Katsina, District Head of Eimi, Alhaji Nuhu AbdulQadir.
