FG to establish Senior Citizens Centre

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq and Members of the Coalition of Societies for the Rights of Older Persons in Nigeria (COSROPIN).

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq says that the Ministry is working towards the establishment of National Senior Citizens Centre to Carter for older persons in the country.

In a statement by her Special Assistant, Strategic Communications, Halima Oyelade the Minster made this known when she received members of the Coalition of Societies for the Rights of Older Persons in Nigeria (COSROPIN).

According to the Minister, a law establishing the Centre is already in place. When operational the Centre will among other things identify needs, opportunities, training of senior citizens,  as well as address their health needs.

President of COSROPIN Sen. Eze Ajoku thanked the Honourable Minister for the COVID-19 relief items given to the group to cushion the effects of the pandemic.
