The Federal Government says it will reopen schools for student across the country as soon as the situation of the covid-19 pandemic improves.
The Minister of State for Education, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba stated this when he featured on Radio Nigeria Good Governance and Accountabilitly Audience Participatoy Programme, “Have Your Say
Mr Nwajiuba while acknowledging the big blow the covid-19 pandemic has dealt on the Nation’s Socio Economic life with the Educational sector inclusive said, the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 as working tirelessly to stem further speed of the disease.
Reacting on the recent decision to allow exiting students sit for their final examination, The Minister of state for Education emphasized on the need for compliance to the laid down protocols for preventing spread of Covid-19 on the situation with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and recent developments at the University of
Lagos, Mr. Nwajiuba expressed optimism that due process would always prevail.
Callers on the programme, Bishop Isong from Edo state, Mande Emmanuel from Nasarawa State and Ada Unogwu from Platcau state called for effective collaboration among stakeholders and policies that would improve the academic environment with the lessons learnt from the Covid-19 Pandemic
Others were however of the opinion that the Federal Movement should not rush to reopen schools in order not to worsen the situation of the Covid 19 Pandemic.
