The House of Representatives Committee on Power has issued the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) four months deadline to complete two sub-stations in Kano State.
Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Magaji Da’u gave the ultimatum when members of the committee inspected some federal government power projects in the State.
He said the two projects include 2/40 MVA sub-station in Walalambe Community of Nasarawa Local Government Area, and a 3/30 KVA station in Rimin Zakara, Ungoggo Local Government Area.
Alhaji Magaji said the Walalambe project started 15 years ago.
He said the projects would add a lot of value to power supply and distribution in the State, especially with the Siemens project on the way.
“Presently there are uncompleted power projects in the country worth over N156 billion under the TCN, and we are working towards ensuring the completion of those projects”, he said.
Responding, the Assistant General Manager TCN Kano Service, Malam Muhammad Kamar assured the Committee that TCN would put all efforts to meet the deadline giving, saying they have achieved 30 per cent completion.
Chief Technical Officer KEDCO, Engr. David Omoleye, said the target on the 3/30 KVA station which is 75 per cent completion, can not be achieved until the dual power line project from Kaduna-Kano takes up.
