Kebbi state government has directed schools and colleges to constitute committees to monitor compliance with COVID-19 protocols as schools reopen for exiting students.
Commissioner for Health and chairman, Task Force on COVID-19, Ja’afaru Muhammad gave the directive when members of the committee visited some schools to ensuring compliance with precautionary measures against corona virus.
He expressed satisfaction about adherence to hand washing, sanitizer use, wearing of face masks and social distancing by staff and students.
Schools visited were Nagari Science College, Unity Girls College, Royal Leads Academy and Kebbi Capital College, Birnin Kebbi.
The state government has also taken delivery of forty-five truck load of relief food items donated by Coalition against COVID-19 (CACOVID) to mitigating economic effect of the virus on vulnerable persons.
The items donated were rice, macaroni, spaghetti, flour, sugar and salt.
Deputy governor of the state Sama’ila Yombe who represented the Governor Atiku Bagudu said the materials would be distributed evenly to all local government areas.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and the Emir of Bichi Nasiru Ado Bayero have paid homage to Emir of Gwandu, Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar at the AbdULLAHI Fodio Palace, Birnin Kebbi.
