President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the extension of the current Second Phase of the National Response to COVID-19 for another four weeks with few adjustments made to the new guidelines.
The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha stated this at the PTF briefing in Abuja.
He said the decision for another extension was made after due consideration by The President and PTF to sustain the gains achieved so far.
The National Coordinator of the Task Force, Dr. Sani Aliyu outlined some of the Guidelines to include Resumption of International Air travels, resumption of rail operations and resumption of work for civil servants from grade level twelve and above.
Other guidelines include Resumption of normal office work hours from Mondays to Fridays with proper precautionary measures taken by staff such as wearing of masks.
Recreational centers can resume for supervised exercises, while non-contact outdoor communal sporting activities like, badminton, table tennis and cycling will also be allowed.
Exiting classes in Secondary schools and tertiary institutions are to resume school to seat for their examinations.
The National Coordinator also hinted that the National Youth Service Corps is to commence preparations for re-opening in future phases.
He added that the PTF is working with State authorities to enforce COVID-19 laws.
