Nigeria Computer Society to host 1st virtual conference

The Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) says its forthcoming international conference which will be hosted online, is scientifically planned to provide the needed technological supports for industries to attain the Fourth Industrial revolution otherwise known as industry 4.0.

Addressing a virtual news conference, the President of NCS, Professor Adesina Sodiya, explained that fourth industrial revolution, (Industry 4.0) is simply about smart manufacturing and the technological components are full process and production line automation; intelligent control of cyber-physical systems; Internet of things (IoT), robotics, big data analytics, cloud computing, and machine learning.

He said as a nation, industries must leverage on these technologies for enhanced profitability and economic well-being, hence the theme ”Emerging Applications and Technologies for Industry 4.0 (EATI 2020)”

Professor Sodiya noted the Conference will provide a multi-stakeholder forum to examine pertinent considerations in showcasing emerging applications and technologies to achieving the fourth industrial revolution that will lead to Sustainable Development while urging the federal government to provide an enabling environment for private investments to thrive.

The NCS president said the challenge posed by COVID-19 reaffirms the need for Information Technology Professionals to change their strategies by hosting conferences online, adding that COVID-19 has introduced a new normal paradigm shift in which the whole world is currently battling with.

Professor Sodiya noted that this is the first time NCS will be holding virtual Conference in the history of this society.
