Kogi State Acting Chief Judge, Justice Henry Olusuyi is to set up a tripartite committee towards quick dispensation of justice in the state.
Justice Olusuyi stated this when he received the State Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Idrisu Dabban in Lokoja.
He said the committee would be drawn from the judiciary, the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Nigerian Police Force to look into pending cases with a view of decongesting prisons across the State.
The Acting Chief Judge called for continued synergy with relevant stakeholders in the justice system towards achieving set goals.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Idrisu Dabban called on the need to put measures in place to check the undue release of suspects under investigation by some judges without recourse to the Police.
Mr. Dabban appealed for understanding with the Police in view of the need to prosecute suspected criminals and bring them to justice.
