Kogi State Government has reiterated its commitment to continue to partner with the Federal Government towards the resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel company and Itakpe Iron Ore Mining Company.
State Commissioner for Finance, Asiwaju Ashiru Idris stated this while speaking on his recent appointment as a member of the Presidential Committee on the resuscitation of the companies.
Asiwaju Idris said the State government had put measures in place to key into the Federal Government’s desire to bring the companies back into operation.
According to him, the State government has made concerted efforts in the area of technical experts, finance and follow up trips to Russia towards achieving the set goals.
The Commissioner stressed that aside from creating employment opportunities for the teeming youths of Kogi State, it would also improve the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), of the State as well as technology and skills transfer.
While calling on the Federal Government to remain focused on the project, he expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Mr Olamilekan Adegbite and the National Assembly in their efforts at reviving Ajaokuta Steel company and Itakpe Iron Ore Mining Company.
