The chairman Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa says the Commission is working with the Federal Mortgage Bank to achieve a Diaspora Mortgage Housing project.
She stated this in Abuja at the 2020 Nigerians in Diaspora Investment Summit with the theme ” leveraging Diaspora Resources for national development in a COVID-19 era”
Mrs Dabiri-Erewa also said that a Diaspora Investment Trust Fund was being worked out by the Commission to enhance infrastructure development in the country.
She said the Commission also working on the “End open defecation project” aimed at ending open defecation in Nigeria by 2024.
The NIDCOM chairman who explained that plans are on to mobilize millions of Nigerians in the Diaspora to fund a toilet per household, added that a global project will soon be launched for Nigerians in the Diaspora to participate in the most needed project.
The Minister of state Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada who expressed satisfaction with the performance of NIDCOM said the Commission would be given all it required to achieve it mandate.
Ambassador Dada said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was ready to assist Nigerians in Diaspora who are willing to invest back home.
He said the Ease of doing business policy of the Federal Government would be applied to ensure more investment was attracted back home.
