Members of the Federal Executive Council have sincerely extended their deepest and heartfelt condolences to President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor and people of Kwara state as well as the Abdul-Rasaq family on the death of Alhaji Abdul-Rasaq Folorunso SAN, family patriarch and eminent statesman which occurred on Saturday 25th July, 2020 at the age of 93.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha says Alhaji Folorunso Abdul-Rasaq, a first Republic Minister of State for Transportation be remembered for his selfless and meritorious service to the nation and to humanity.
As the first lawyer from Northern Nigeria, he attainded the enviable rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria and served in several capacities including chairman of the body of benchers, members of lnternational commission of jurists and the Nigeria Council of Humanitarian Right.
As a Politician, he served as Special member of the northern House of Assembly and later as a member of the federal parliament.
He also served as the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Ivory Coast in the first republic.
As part of his contribution to economic growth, Alhaji Abdul-Rasaq was the Vice President and President of the Nigerian stock exchange from 1983-2003 during which tremendous growth was recorded and reforms introduced.
The legacies of Alhaji Folorunso Abdul-Rasaq, lawyer, politician, businessman, distinguished administrator, educationist and community leader will forever remain with us.
