People’s Democratic Party Minority Caucus in Kaduna State House of Assembly has appealed to Federal and Kaduna state governments to bring lasting peace in the southern part of the state.
The Caucus expressed displeasure over the spate of attacks and killings in the area.
Briefing newsmen on Friday in Kaduna, the lawmakers, who of indeginous people of the area, appealed to governments to rise to its responsibilities of protecting lives and property.
Mr. Emmanuel Bako Kantiok, who spoke on behalf of the group, said a statement credited to an aide of President Muhammadu Buhari, where he was quoted as saying the crisis in southern Kaduna was complicated, was unwarranted.
The lawmaker decried the silent and in-action of the state government in the recent attacks on Kajuru, Kaura and Zango-Kataf local government areas.
As elected representatives of the people, we are worried that these attacks, massacre and destruction of properties particularly in Southern Kaduna are unabating and we have a responsibility to remind the Government to live up to its responsibilities,” the group said.
