A NGO, Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, GPFN, has appealed to Christian and Muslim leaders in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state to preach love, forgiveness and tolerance towards restoring peace in the area.
This followed continuous attacks and unrest leading to loss of lives and destruction of property of natives and the Hausa-Fulani communities.
The country director, GPFN, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, made the appeal during an outreach organised for 60 religious clerics in Kajuru.
Rev. Hayap said the sensitisation programme which brought together Christian and Muslim preachers from the mostly affected areas, was targeted at rebuilding trust and confidence, to enable them live in peace and for the economic survival of the community.
He admonished the leaders to intensify preaching messages of love and understanding, as well as the commonality between the adherence of the two major religions in the area.
The Northern Coordinator of GPFN, Sheikh Halilu Abdulahi reminded them that God had given them great and sacred task of preaching peace and unity to contribute their quota for the corporate existence of the country.
“Your roles as peace builders of any society is needed as the country is faced with so many challenges that require all hands to be on deck for the survival of Nigeria.
Chairmen of CAN and JNI in Kajuru, Rev. Makama Mazadu and Imam Shafiu promised to preach messages of peace.
The NGO distributed peace educational materials to participants.
