Blood Transfusion Service gets new Coordinator

The Federal Ministry of Health has appointed Dr. Omale Joseph Amedu as as the new Co-ordinator of The National Blood Transfusion Service, NBTS.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Head, media and communications, Mr Abdullahi Haruna in Abuja.

According to the statement, the new Co-ordinator who is a trained medical doctor, administrator and leadership mentor replaces Dr Oluwatoyin Smith who retired from the Civil Service. Dr Amedu is a graduate of the University of Jos, University of Liverpool UK, Olabisi Olabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru and the Atlantic International University, Honolulu- Hawaii, USA.

On resumption of duty, the National Coordinator charged staff on the need to be diligent, focused and result-oriented aimed at increasing the blood needs of the country and ensuring blood safety.

The statement adds that Dr Amedu approved the reorganization of the service with the following offices and officers accordingly; Laboratory Services and Quality Department headed by, Dr Kingsley Odiabara, Blood Services, Dr Jimoh Zubairu, Head of Accounts and Finance, Mr Ottun Lateef, Head, Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr Adaeze Oreh, Head of Administration, Mrs Adetoun Kalejaiye, Head of Media /Communications, Abdullahi Haruna and Head of Regulatory Department, Mr Elton Oga.
