The federal government says the Gagarawa power substation in Jigawa State will complement the supply of electricity across the state and boost the state’s economy.
The Minister of Power, Engineer Saleh Mamman stated this while inspecting the project which is being jointly constructed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN.
He noted that the effort to complete the project is in line with the President Buhari-led administration’s effort to diversify the nation’s economy.
Engineer Saleh Mamman pointed out that the power substation will improve power supply in the state and boost economic activities through industrialisation as several communities in some local government areas of the state were projected to benefit from the project.
Also speaking, the state Governor, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar noted that the power station would be commissioned in the next three weeks.
He said about four Local Government Areas will benefit from the power station which include Gagarawa, Gumel, Babura and Maigatari.
Badaru said the grid from the power station will also be extended to other local councils in the state.
Radio Nigeria reports that the project which entails the installation of 48 Megawatts capacity transformers.
