Anambra gets 2 modern fire fighting trucks

The federal government has deployed two modern fire fighting trucks to the federal fire service command in Anambra state.

The state deputy governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, who presented the speech of Governor Willie Obiano, at the presentation of the Trucks in Akwa the State Capital, on Sunday, commended the initiative of the federal government..

He said one of the vehicles would be deployed to Onitsha, a major town in the state, and the other would remain in Akwa the State capital.

He said the state government would provide a land for the FFS to construct an office in the state, while also providing support that would see the recruitment of more personnel into the state fire service as well capacity building through trainings.

The Controller General, FFS, Dr Liman Ibrahim represented by an Assistant Controller General in-charge of procurement, Dr Calistus Agu, said the trucks was in-line with the resolve of the present administration to ensure the safety of lives and property of the citizenry, especially during this season of fire outbreak.

“This will, without doubt, enhance a robust partnership with Anambra Government to minimise fire threats in the state; fire fighting is the responsibility of all”, the CG said.

Dr Liman requested for two utility vehicles from the state government to aid quick response by the fire fighters during emergencies.
