Men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, have brought down the remains of a self collapsed three-storey building at number 7, Freeman Street, Lagos Island.
9 people were rescued while 3 bodies were recovered from the building which reportedly collapsed at about 0405hrs today.
Those who were rescued were rushed to the hospital after LASEMA and officials of the State ambulance service, LASAMBUS administered first aid, while the bodies of the three victims, a boy, aged 9, a 6-year-old girl and a female adult were taken to the mortuary.
A statement by Director-General/CEO LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu says the agency responded to emergency calls on a 3-storey building that collapsed in the morning on people sleeping inside.
Radio Nigeria reports that Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Building Control Agency, Ministry Of Physical planning, Nigeria Police Force, Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps, Lagos State Fire Service were at the incident scene carrying out a multi-agency work.
