President Buhari approves Magu’s suspension

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate suspension of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations to the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Umar Gwandu.

According to the statement, the move was to allow unhindered inquiry by the Presidential Investigation Panel set up by the government to investigate some allegations leveled against the former anti-graft agency’s boss in accordance with the laws.

President Buhari had also approved that the agency’s Director of Operations, Mr. Mohammed Umar, take charge and oversee the activities of the commission pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigation of Mr. Magu.
