Insecurity: Airforce assured personnel of robust operational facility

Nigerian Airforce has re-iterated its commitment towards putting in place, facilities that would ensure the comfort of personnel and enhance their operational efficiency.

Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar gave the assurance while commissioning a twenty-one accommodation facility for airmen and an internal road network held at the Airforce detachment unit in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Air Marshal Abubakar explained that the unit was established to serve as support towards addressing banditry and reinforcement to block the influx of bandits from neighbouring states stressing that it would be an additional security to the North-West zone.

He expressed the readiness of the force to continue to fight against banditry and ensure that citizens continue to pursue their legitimate aspirations without any fear of molestation.

The Air Chief maintained that he has constantly sought not only to evolve strategies that will enable the service adequately project air power to effectively deal with prevailing security threats but also see that personnel welfare is accorded priority.

Air Marshal Abubakar noted that with the dynamic security challenges in Birnin Gwari, there is the need for a robust structure that can conduct single and joint operations in concert with other surface forces, as well as to provide the needed support towards combating insecurity.

He pointed out that the force will monitor the effort of the personnel of the unit and charged them to synergize with sister security agencies towards bringing lasting peace in the area.

The Air Chief also assured that the force would tackle the problem of inadequate accommodation for personnel to enhance effective service delivery.

Earlier, Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command Air Vice Marshal Charles Owoh, said the current leadership of the force has placed a high premium on personnel welfare and capacity building which has greatly enhanced personnel performance, morale and service delivery.

He re-assured of personnel dedication and unalloyed commitment to ending insurgency and banditry across the sphere of influence.
