ADP will contest in Edo elections – Party chief

ADP National Chairman, Yabagi Sanni

The Action Democratic Party, ADP in Nigeria says its candidate Mr Ibio Emmanuel will be contesting in the September 19, Edo State Governorship election.

The National Chairman of the Party, Mr Yabagi Sanni who made the statement in Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital added that some rumour mongers have been carrying some rumours that the ADP has withdrawn from the contest throwing its support to the PDP candidate Governor Godwin Obasaki.

He also denied the mass defection of party members to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State.

He added that “the party has no pact with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming Governorship election in Edo State.

Mr. Sanni told journalists that the clarification became necessary in view of the news making the rounds that his party had collapsed its structures into that of the PDP ahead of the election in the state.

He urged the Edo people and Nigerians in general, “to ignore the speculation.”

He reiterated that “the ADP is in the contest to win”, even as he disclosed the party’s candidate for the election, Iboi Emmanuel, and other party supporters are working round the clock to ensure the party’s victory at the poll.
