The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Road Transport Unions have adopted resolutions towards enforcing COVID-19 protocol for interstate transportation.
The Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, and representatives of road the unions gave these resolutions at a virtual meeting on Monday.
The federal government lifted the ban on inter-state travel with effect from July 1. The measure was put in place to curtain community transmission of coronavirus.
According to the agreement, all vehicles are to turn off air conditioning but rather open windows for ventilation.
Transports operators who serve food and water to passengers should ensure that they are packaged and sealed, and there should be continuous provision of PPE for drivers.
Buses should equally be disinfected after completion of every trip.
Passengers are to report any public transport operator who fails to comply with any of the guidelines to the FRSC, the meeting agreed.
