The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of six thousand six hundred and eighteen senior police officers to their next substantive Ranks.
The promotion according to a statement by the Head Press and Public Relations of the Commission Mr. Ikechukwu Ani says the promotions include, one Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) to the rank of Deputy Inspector – General of police ( DIG), four Commissioners of Police moved to the ranks of Assistants inspectors-General of police ( AIG’s) while three Deputy Commissioners of Police were elevated to the Ranks of Commissioner of Police (CP’s).
The commission also approved the promotion of eight superintendent of police and six hundred and seven deputy superintendents of Police were equally elevated to the rank of superintendents of police (SP’s) while five thousand seven Hundred and eighty six police inspectors were promoted during the plenary to Assistant Superintendents of police (ASPII).
The Chairman of the police service commission, Alhaji musliu smith congratulated the promoted officers and urged them to reciprocate the commission’s gesture by rededicating themselves to the service of the Nation.
He said the commission would continue to ensure that merit and seniority guide the promotion of officers of the Nigeria police.
