Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar has charged troops of Air Taskforce Operation Lafiya Dole to renewed their commitment and round off the counter insurgency Operations by end of this year.
The Air Chief gave the charge while addressing troops in the frontline at headquarters of the Taskforce in Maiduguri to oversee the ongoig operation “Long Reach 2”.
He expressed satisfaction with performance of the personnel which led to destruction of twelve hideouts of Boko Haram insurgents since commencement of the Operations.
Air Marshal Abubakar lauded the synergy between the Air Taskforce and the Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole which led to the recent success in the war against insurgency in the north-east.
“The idea of the Operation is to catch the enemy in his nest before he comes out to attack your people or the troops. Am very satisfied with what we have done in the last few days, we have made substantial progress and we are going to continue. We are working very closely with the ground troops”. CAS stated.
He noted that if these efforts are sustained, Nigeria will have the strongest Airforce in Africa in the next ten years.
Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly for their continued support for the military.
Our correspondent reports that the Air Chief then inspected some of the air assets deployed to the theater and also interacted with the troops.
