The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has expressed support for the Party’s new Caretaker Committee, chaired by the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.
Asiwaju Tinubu made this known in Lagos last night during a chat with newsmen at his residence in Bourdillon in Ikoyi area of the State after meeting with Members of the Caretaker committee behind closed doors.
The APC National Leader said he has trust and respect for the person of the caretaker Chairman and reiterated his commitment to building the Party and Nigeria.
“Sincerely, we have trust and respect for the character of the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee and willing to support him to succeed for the party to continue it’s crusade of progressive governance in the Country” He said
Asiwaju Tinubu who extended condolences to the family of the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, debunked rumours of rifts among party members, saying that politics without what he called “seeming media crisis” would be less interesting.
“We have never been divided, in politics, there have been instances where you disagree, but it does not mean that you cannot discuss it over rand be a good example in leadership and in politics” Tinubu said.
The Caretaker Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni had led other members, including the Chairman of Progressives Governor’s Forum and Governor of Kebbi State, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Committee Secretary, Senator Akpan Udo-Edehe and Governor of Lagos State who is also the APC Campaign Committee for Edo State gubernatorial election, Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu to the meeting.
Governor Mai Mala Buni described the meeting as Consultative.
“The task before us is daunting and we need their experiences, guidance and prayers” The APC Caretaker Chairman said.
The National Working Committee of the party formerly headed by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was dissolved by the party’s National Executive Committee at an emergency meeting attended by President Muhammadu Buhari and the new Committee Chair and members were named.
