The Nigerian Army says it will prioritize welfare and logistics for troops in the North East to boost moral in the fight against insurgency
The Chief Of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, made this known while inaugurating some completed projects at the Ikeja cantonment in Lagos as part of activities to mark this year’s Nigerian Army Day celebration.
Lieutenant General Buratai, represented by the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Major General Olu Irefin said troops sent to the North East would now be rotated periodically to enable them time to cater for their families.
In his address of welcome, the commander 9brigade, Brigadier General Musa Etsu Ndagi, noted that with the vision of the chief of Army Staff, the Nigerian Army has been transformed into a formidable force with good leadership.
Among the projects inaugurated were: newly remodeled 9brigade officers mess, Nigerian Army Aviation Pilots’ accomodation and the newly remodeled corporal quarters
Among Senior military and paramilitary officers who attended the event were the commander, Nigerian Army Ordnance corp, Major General Omotomilola Akintade, Commander Nigerian Army Corps of Engineers, Major General John Malu, Commander 651BSG Air Commodore Rasak Olarewaju and the Commissioner of Police Lagos State Hakeem Odumosu
