Women demand inclusive policies

A multi-party Organisation, “Women in Politics” has decried the inadequate representation of women in the just constituted Care Taker Committee and the Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

President, Women in Politics, Mrs Ebere Ifendo, in Abuja, stated the grievances of the organisation in letters to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chairman, Care Taker Committee of the APC, Governor Mai Bala Buni.

While presenting the letters to the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, for onward delivery to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mrs Ifendo explained that the Organisation had demanded the inclusion of more women in the Care Taker Committee of the APC and 35% of women representation in the sub committees of the Convention Planning Committee of the party.

Mrs. Ifendo said the Organisation also recommended to President Muhammadu Buhari to support a proposal for an affirmation action clause in the constitution of the APC to include 30% of women as members in the National working Committee and other party offices.

On her part, Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen who promised to forward the demands of organisation to President Muhammadu Buhari appealed to Nigerian women to continue to be loyal and support the president who was responsive to the plight of women. 

Senior Special Assistant to the Wife of the President, Mrs.  Hajo Sani had 54 women organisations as signatories to the letters.
