The Nigerian Army has adopted new strategy for timely response to threats of insurgency and terrorism in the theatre of war.
Theater Commander ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’, Major General Yahaya stated this while inaugurating a quick response base code named ‘Camp Delta’ at headquarters of 7 Division Nigerian Army Maimalari cantonment.
The Theatre Commander said the inauguration was part of activities marking this year’s Nigerian Army Day celebration to be held in Katsina state.
He noted that creation of the response base is line with the Chief of Army Staff directive for troops to always be proactive and deal decisively with insurgents and other criminals terrorising innocent Nigerians.
Major General Yahaya restated the commitment of the Theatre to achieving its mandate of ending Boko Haram insurgency in the north east.
Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Nigerian Army Brigadier-General Abdul Khalifa said the facility is for the Division’s quick reaction force that will enable the troops carefully plan and reinforce in the event of any operation.
He assured that with the operationalisation of the force, troops can now counter any form of threat to Maiduguri and its surroundings.
