$2.8bn gas pipeline project underway in Kaduna

Kaduna is to build power stations, fertilizer and petrol chemical plants, which will be made possible with the construction of the Ajakuta -Kaduna – Kano Gas pipeline project gas pipeline.

Governor Nasiru ElRufai stated this at the ground breaking of the gas pipeline project held at Rigachikun, Igabi local government area of Kaduna state.

He said opportunities of the project were unlimited.
Government would pipe gas directly to people’s houses, which is expected to end the use of firewood for cooking, he said.

He expressed gratitude to President Buhari and stakeholders for making the project a reality, adding that, flag-off of the construction phase of the gas pipeline was the most important project in the history of Kaduna state.

Minister of State for petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Silver said the project was transformational and good for the integration of the country; “a development corridor , a backbone that have been created from the south to the north.”

The project is estimated to engulf about $2.8billion dollar, the minister said.
