Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state
Borno state government says it will expand areas of land for cultivation from four thousand hectares to about ten thousand hectares during this year’s farming season.
Borno state Governor, Babagana Zulum made this known during a media chat to round off series of media briefings to mark one year anniversary of his administration.
The Governor noted that government can no longer depend on food intervention from international organisations hence the massive investment in the agricultural sector.
According to him, the state government has procured equipment worth 1.5 billion naira for clearing of farmlands, purchased fertiliser worth about three hundred million naira to boost farming activities.
On the education sector, Governor Zulum said technical education would at basic level of education to bridge the gap between skilled knowledge and labour market.
He promised to weed out unqualified teachers from public schools in an effort to improve the standard of education especially at the basic level.
The Governor urged people of the state to be steadfast and prayerful to overcome the security situation confronting the state.
