The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps Abia state has arrested two suspected child traffickers.
Parading the suspects in Umuahia, the commandant of the corps, Mr Nnamdi Nwannukwu said the suspects were arrested through a tip off from under covered operatives at Aba motor park.
The NSCDC boss said the suspects strike a deal to sell a one-day old baby girl for the sum eight hundred thousand naira but luck ran out of them when officers of command intercepted them.
He noted that the investigation carried out revealed that the baby was born in a baby factory located in Aba.
Mr Nwannukwu noted that the command was on the trail of all the suspects linked to the ugly incident and would soon arrested.
One of the suspects, Michael Okeke from Abueke etiti in White Uboma local government areas of Imo state admitted committing the crime saying it was hardship from the current lockdown period that pushed him to it.
Our correspondent reports that the suspects and the baby have been handed over to the officials of the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons NAPTIP Enugu zonal headquarters for prosecution.
