Rivers gov’t imposes total lock-down in Bonny LGA

Rivers State Governor has imposed a total lock-down of Bonny Local Government Area and Onne in Eleme Local Government Area from Sunday, June 21 2020, till further notice.

In a State-Wide Broadcast, Governor Nyesom Wike who said the lockdown was due to rising cases of Coronavirus in the state also announced that there would be another statewide total lock-down if the number of Coronavirus cases in the state continues to rise.

Governor Wike expressed worry that Rivers State would be the epic centre of the virus in the South-South region as the state has recorded a total 866 positive cases with 32 deaths out of 2,572 test samples.

The Governor appealed to residents to treat the pandemic with all seriousness by staying at home and observing all preventive measures to stop the spread of the virus.
