Borno state government has engaged about thirteen thousand Civilian JTF, hunters and Vigilantes to complement the effort of military and other security agencies in the fight against insurgency.
The state Commissioner of Local government and emirate affairs, Alhaji Sugun Mai-Mele stated this at a media briefing in Maiduguri.
According to Alhaji Mele, the state government expends one hundred and thirty-two million naira monthly in payment of their allowances which ranges between ten and fifteen thousand naira.
He said Borno state has also provided vehicles and other logistics to the CivilianJTF, hunters and vigilantes to ensure the smooth running of their operations in twenty-five local government areas.
The Commissioner noted that civil authorities have fully been restored in twenty-three local government areas while military operations is still ongoing in four local governments of Marte, Abadam, Kukawa and Guzamala.
“The state Governor Babagana Zulum has also sought the engagement of Mobile Police Force which were deployed and stationed at Magumeri, Konduga, Damboa and Nganzai local governments to provide security to local communities “.
Alhaji Sugun Mai Mele explained that the Ministry has procured three thousand metric tonnes of NPK fertiliser at the cost of two hundred and seventy million naira to boost farming activities in this year’s cropping season.
