The Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has confirmed six persons killed and 600 houses destroyed by a windstorm in four local government areas.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Saleh Jili told newsmen in Kano on Friday that about 1, 752 have been displaced by windstorm in the past one week in Gwale, Rimin Gado, Gwarzo and Kibiya LGAs.
Jili said that one person was electrocuted in while five others died in a collapsed building in Gwale LGA adding that the agency was awaiting situation report from other local councils affected by the disaster.
He explained that a team had visited Kibiya and Rimingado and distributed relief materials to the victims as an interim measure to alleviate their sufferings.
Jili warned communities in flood-prone areas to desist from the dumping of refuse in waterways to avert flooding.
