President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed dissatisfaction with the level of progress in the fight against insurgency and other criminal activities in the North-Western part of the country.
The National Security Adviser, General Babagana Monguno (rtd) who disclosed this to newsmen shortly after a visit to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at Government house in Sokoto, said the present administration would work closely with other tiers of Government to tackle this challenge.
General Monguno stressed that he and other security chiefs in his entourage have had underlying agreements which were open and frank during their close door meeting with Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
He assured that President Muhammad Buhari was keenly interested in closing the gap between the three tiers of Government in their collaboration to tackle security challenges.
Also speaking, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to work with the Nigeria Police to ensure success of activities of community policing committee recently inaugurated in the state.
The Governor also assured the visiting security chiefs that there is an existing synergy between his administration and security outfits in the state, adding that it would be further enhanced.
The National Security Adviser accompanied by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Muhammad Adamu and other security chiefs had earlier visited Katsina state, and while in Sokoto visited the Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar.
