The Action Democratic Party ADP has called on the 9th National Assembly led by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, and speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, to uphold the virtues and sacredness of the legislative chambers by focusing entirely on bills that will have impacts on the lives of every Nigerian.
This is contained in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party Prince Adelaja Adeoye to mark the first anniversary of the 9th Assembly.
The statement urges President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the amended Electoral Act, which would eliminate most, if not all major irregularities in the conduct of elections in the country.
It reminds the National Assembly that it owes Nigerians a duty of selflessness, patriotism and integrity in the discharge of their duties, as the elected representatives of the people.
The statement adds that as it journeys into its second year, the National Assembly should strive for excellence and be independent of executive influence.
