Catholic bishops donate food items to IDPs

Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Nigeria through its body Caritas Nigeria has extended humanitarian gesture to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at New Kuchigoro, Abuja to cushion effect of lock-down due to COVID-19.

Distributing the relieve materials to the IDPs, Director Humanitarian, Caritas Nigeria, Nkese Udongwo explained that the gesture was to help female heads in each household in the IDPs Camp through the hardship posed by the global pandemic.

“The importance of this move is to help the most senior female in each household within the camp to have something to eat especially during this lock-down”. She said.

Some beneficiaries of the food items expressed gratitude to Caritas Nigeria.

The New Kuchigoro IDPs camp Chairman, Mr Philemon Emmanuel who said the lock-down had caused hunger and denied members of the IDPs camp from farming despite of the opportunity of rainfall, thanked the group for the gesture.
