The National Orientation Agency, NOA, has embarked on motorized sensitization campaign on COVID-19 in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
The campaign is aimed at creating more awareness to members of the public on the existence of the virus and measures to contain its further spread and also appreciate stakeholders for their contribution in the fight against Coronavirus.
At the Shehu of Borno’s palace, NOA state Director Alhaji Yahya Imam commended the Shehu for leading the traditional institution in the battle against the pandemic.
Alhaji Imam observed that with the suspension of the lockdown in the state, there is the need to intensify sensitisation campaign particularly at the community level to stem any possible escalation.
Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi said the emirate council has mobilized all traditional rulers in sixteen local government under his domain on method of prevention of COVID-19.
The Shehu who was represented by the District Head of Damboa Zanna Lawan Maina called on the public to strictly observed social distancing, frequent washing of hands and avoid crowded spaces.
The Director and his team also visited the Chief Imam of Borno Imam Laisu Ibrahim and one of the unit of tricycle riders at post office area where he solicited for their support in spreading the message of safety protocols among religious leaders and their followers as well as Keke Napep operators to eradicate the virus in the state.
