The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the killing of the District Head of ‘Yantumaki in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state, Alhaji Abu Atiku.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Gambo Isah, explains that the armed bandits stormed the residence of the traditional chief at midnight and shot him with a gun.
They also shot his security guard, Malam Gambo Chakau, before escaping into the forest.
The statement says the victims were taken to Dan-Musa General Hospital where the District Head was confirmed dead while his security guard was admitted and was responding to treatment.
This attack comes days after armed bandits raided three villages in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing thirteen people and stealing hundreds of animals.
Another gang of armed bandits in Batsari Local Government Area also killed the All Progressives Congress, APC, chairman of the area, Alhaji Abdulhameed Mamman at his residence in Batsari.
Our correspondent reports that the attacks were carried out amidst the ongoing military operation in parts of the state troubled by armed banditry.
