Rapid Response Squad to secure farmers in Borno

The newly established Rapid Response Squad, RRS of the Nigeria Police has established a zonal operations office in Auno community of Borno state to provide robust security to farmers in this year’s farming season. 

Briefing newsmen at Borno state Police command headquarters,  Maiduguri,  Commander of the Squad CSP Abioye Babalola said three additional patrol trucks have been provided by the state government to be domiciled in Auno to secure the area.

He explained that the setting up of the new zonal office will improve deployement of personnel on Maiduguri-Damaturu highway to secure goods and commuters following recent attacks by insurgents on the road.

“All our deployments now will start from Auno that will take care of that axis, providing security especially for farmers during this planting season so that many people will have confidence in going to their farms in line with federal government’s directive as pronounced by the President of mass involvement in agricultural activity”

The commander Rapid Response Squad assured that the officer and men of Nigeria Police and other sister agencies as well as vigilantes and Civilian JTF are battle ready  to protect residents and passengers using the highway. 

CSP Babalola presented keys of the vehicles to leaders of hunters, vigilantes and Civilian JTF of the area.

The representative of the groups thanked the Federal and Borno state governments for according priority to security of their people.
