Minister calls for support for banditry victims

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya-Umar Farouq has directed relevant agencies of the ministry to swiftly commence action in collaboration with agencies of Sokoto State Government in providing much-needed relieve  to survivors of banditry in Sabon Birnin Local Government Area of the State.

In a statement by the Ministry, Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouq said the Ministry will provide the necessary support to the people at a critical time to help mitigate the effects of the attack.

“The Ministry will stand with the people in their hour of deprivation and need by ensuring that the pains inflicted on them by the terrorists are mitigated through appropriate interventions,” she assured.

According to the statement, the Minster who condemned the killings, commiserated with the government and people of Sokoto state as well as families that lost their loved ones in the heinous attacks.

Hajiya Sadiya lamented that in addition to the criminal killing of innocent citizens, the livelihoods of residents of the communities have been disrupted as hundreds of  families were  displaced from their homes following the unwarranted attacks by the criminals.
