The Nigerian Air force to commence special operation from Damaturu the Yobe state capital to support the ground troops in the fight against insurgency in the North East.
The Chief of Air staff Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar announced this while fielding questions from newsmen after visiting Governor Mai Mala Buni at the Government House Damaturu.
The Chief of Air staff, Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar said the new development would add value to what was on ground to quicken their response to any noticed or reported security threat around Yobe state.
He pointed out that already additional land area has been provided by the Yobe state government to enable them install their facilities to ensure smooth commencement of operations from the area.

In his reaction, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state said, to ensure hitch free operation by the Nigerian Air force , test run exercise would be conducted at the newly constructed Damaturu International Airport this coming Friday in addition to the provision of NAF quarters to ease accommodation problem.
Governor Mai Mala Buni expressed confidence that the collaborative effort would mark the end of the activities of insurgents within Yobe state and beyond soonest.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the military for their relentless effort toward addressing insecurity in the country. C
