Interstate travel ban has reduced COVID-19 spread – El-Rufai

Kaduna State government says the interstate travel band has significantly improved in the State with a view to contain spread of COVID-19.

The State governor, Malam Nasiru Elrufai stated this while speaking with news men shortly after monitoring interstate ban level of compliance at Kaduna – Kano boundary.

Governor El-Rufai expressed satisfaction at the reduced number of passengers vehicles along the highway while trailers were mostly carrying authorized goods.

He said that, the only way to contain spread of the disease, it was through restriction of people movement and large gathering..

Governor El-Rufai emphased that, as long as government could contain the virus through interstate travel ban, it will begin ease the lockdown so that people can free to conduct their normal activities.

According to him, if the State government allow people entering the State especially from states where the Corona virus preveilance was high, it will rise the rate of infection in the State and force government to extend the lockdown.

Malam Nasiru El-Rufai stated that, government does not want to see people in lockdown, stressing that, it want to see markets and other places are reopen for normal activities.

He maintened that, the distribution of second phase of palliative had commenced in the local government areas of the state for the benefit of needy.

The governor also announced that, he will observe his Eid prayer at home, advised all Muslims in the State stay and obseeved their Eid at home.

Mobile court was stationed at the border to prosecute interstate travel violators.
