The Nigeria Communication Satellite Company says it is poised to support private indigenous Direct-To-Home Television services to boost local content and the viability of the sub-sector.
The Managing Director of the Company, Mrs Abimbola Alale stated this in a message at the launch of an indigenous Direct-to-Home Satellite Company and set-up boxes in Abuja.
Represented by the Company’s General Manger Cooperate Affairs, Mr Adamu Idris, Mrs Alale said NIGCOMSAT was interested in the astronomical growth of local Satellite Television services and component manufacturer companies in the country to reposition the sub-sector.
Addressing Newsmen at the launch, the Managing Director of the DTH Satellite Company, Trefoil Nig, Mr Onochie Amaziani said the company had a series of carefully selected programmes meant to project unity, Nigerian cultural values and ideals to the rest of the world.
He said the set-up boxes, decoders, satellite dishes, cartons and cables were absolutely locally manufactured to aide economic growth through local content development.
Also the Head of Publicity of the Company, Miss Braide Sayaba said the Diect-to-Home services of the company was novel as it would provide employment to at least one thousand Nigerians comprising main stream and support staff such as cashiers, marketers, installers and technicians.
