NURTW to penalise members sabotaging lockdown order

The National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW has called on truck driver involved in illegal activities of converting their vehicles to carry passengers, to stop with immediate effect.

This followed the information reaching the Union that some drivers within the union have formed the habit of violating of ban on inter-state of movement of people.

A statement by the President, Alhaji lbikunle Baruwa in Abuja commends the effort of security agents for arresting some of the culprits and the impoundment of their vehicles in Enugu, Abia and Rivers States

He however calls on the River State Governor to rescind his decision not to release the impounded vehicles and goods in the interest of justice and fair play as well as release the vehicles and goods.

The NURTW President urges some of its members in Gombe, Katsına and Kebbi Planning to mobilize some drivers to embark on strike at this critical period, to stop their ill conceived action or be penalized.
